Installation
of Rev Dr Thomas Robert Buick, B.Sc., D. Phil. on 4th July 2002
After a
vacancy of nearly two years, the Presbytery of Derry and Strabane
installed the Rev. Dr. T. Robert Buick, B.Sc., D.Phil, as the Minister
of Carlisle Road and Crossroads at
a special service held on the evening of Thursday 4th July in
Carlisle Road.
A married man
with two teenage children, Dr Buick had previously been minister of
the Congregations of Brigh, Albany & 1st Stewartstown in the
Tyrone Presbytery for almost 11 years.
The Moderator
of the Presbytery, Rev. Dr. Stephen Williamson, conducted the service
assisted by Rev. Dr. Joseph Fell, Presbytery Clerk. Rev. David
Hagan, (Minister of Carndonagh and Malin) preached the sermon, and
the Rev. Alastair Rosborough (Vacancy Convener and Minister of
Ballyarnett and Knowhead) gave the Charge to Minister and Congregations.
The Praise
was led by the choir of Carlisle Road who sang the Introit "Lead
me Lord" and also the Anthem "How Sweet the Name of Jesus
Sounds", under the leadership of the Organist and Choir
mistress, Mrs Helen Devine.
Following the
Service and official Speeches, Miss Joana Hawthorne presented flowers
to Mrs Heather Buick and Miss Valerie Moore presented gifts to Dr
Buick's children, Alison and Aaron. A large crowd was
afterwards entertained to supper in the adjoining Church Hall.
Dr. Buick
commenced his ministry in Carlisle Road and Crossroads on the
following Sabbath, 7th July. |
